Please note: This page for Union Safe Company products (a.k.a. Harbor Freight Tools) is the most visited page of this website. Let me state clearly that I do not recommend Union Safe Co. products, despite their affordability. I have a Recommended Safes page listing the handgun safes and small personal safes I endorse.
Union Safe Co.
model #57392
Though GunVault sells this product, and it is California DOJ approved, I would not recommend it. In addition to the security issue discussed in this video, the box can be pried open easily with a screwdriver. The spring-release latching mechanism installed in it is weak. The mechanism is also the most common form of spring-release latching mechanism used in handgun safes.

Union Safe Co.
model #62980
Although this safe is not marketed as a firearm safety device, the Union Safe Co. page of this website gets a tremendous amount of traffic. For those people who don’t live in the State of California and who are not required by law to store their firearms in devices approved by California’s DOJ, these inexpensive safes look tempting. I would suggest watching the demonstration video here, before deciding to buy one of these.

Union Safe Co.
model #62984
recalled
Harbor Freight Tools has marketed safes under two brand names. Initially, the brand name was Bunker Hill Security. Then in 2016 Harbor Freight changed the name to Union Safe Company.
The device in this video was sold as the Bunker Hill Security item #61581 and the Union Safe Co. item #62984. I filed complaints about this device with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Harbor Freight Tools in January of 2017. Over a year after I filed my complaint, Harbor Freight Tools finally issued a recall. The CPSC posted a recall notice on August 9, 2018.
At least two Chinese manufacturers have made this safe: Yiwu OSPON E-Commerce Enterprise (the model OS600), and Proway Industries Co., Ltd. (the model GS-140E Gun Vault). This safe was examined on January 28, 2017.
Union Safe Co.
model #64010
Harbor Freight Tools markets this device as appropriate for securing guns, and it is California DOJ Approved. However, I would not recommend this "safe" for any use whatsoever. It is simply a larger version of the smaller Union Safe Co. products, like the #62980, and as such it has all of the security vulnerabilities of the smaller safes.
