Fort Knox Auto Pistol Safe
Of all the small safes marketed for use in cars, pickups, RVs, and other vehicles, the only one I’ve found that is appropriate for this use is the Fort Knox Auto Pistol Safe. The safe is made in the U.S. and has a KABA Simplex lock, like the Original Pistol Box. Also, it’s made of 10-gauge steel and can be bolted into place. If you’re looking for a small safe to secure any small valuables, not necessarily a gun, the Auto Pistol Safe would be ideal for use in a desk or a nightstand. This safe was examined October 24, 2017.
Fort Knox Original Pistol Box
California DOJ Approved
This handgun safe is made in the U.S. and features a mechanical bush-button lock, the KABA Simplex, also made in the U.S. The pistol box has no electronics, needs no batteries, and therefore has no keyed override lock. In terms of construction, this device is heavier built than most other handgun safes. However, because of its push-button lock the Original Pistol Box is limited in terms of its appropriateness. The push-button lock cannot prevent one from entering combinations repeatedly in an effort to gain unauthorized access. Probably this pistol box is best suited for situations where one can limit access to it, thereby preventing one from systematically trying combinations. This safe was examined February 1, 2016.
